Continuing Education
After graduation, Balgrist University Hospital offers training places for doctors as they work towards their specialist qualification. Furthermore, doctors who are already certified specialists are given the opportunity to further their professional development through CAS programmes at the University of Zurich or at Operating Room X.
CAS in Spinal Endoscopy
The Certificate of Advanced Studies (CAS) in Spinal Endoscopy at the University of Zurich is the world’s first university-level continuing education programme dedicated to structured training in endoscopic spinal surgery. This programme was developed in collaboration with leading international spinal surgeons and builds on Switzerland’s pioneering role in the fields of medical technology and education.
Organised by the University Spine Centre Zurich at Balgrist University Hospital and supported by the EndoSpine Academy®, this continuing professional development programme offers a comprehensive curriculum that combines theory, simulation-based training, dissection exercises and international scholarships. Participants acquire in-depth knowledge of endoscopic techniques and practical skills in a highly realistic learning environment such as the Operating Room X.
Resident Courses
Our resident courses bridge the gap between academic training and surgical practice. Supported by the Department of Health of the Canton of Zurich and developed in collaboration with experienced lecturers from Balgrist University Hospital, the programme prepares residents for their specialist examinations whilst boosting their confidence in their day-to-day work in the operating theatre. Across 25 courses, participants undergo a learning process that ranges from anatomy and surgical approaches to realistic procedures in state-of-the-art dry and wet laboratories.
