Chiropractic Medicine Clinic

In our clinic, we treat and support people experiencing pain and functional disorders in the spine and all other musculoskeletal system structures. We’re also responsible for training future chiropractors in Switzerland.

Tasks and functions of the Chiropractic Medicine Clinic

The focus lies on the people who come to us as patients—everything we do in our clinic is geared towards them. By supporting the practical training of junior assistants, the continuing education of resident doctors and the further training of internal and external specialists, we are jointly responsible for the high quality of chiropractic care throughout Switzerland.

Clinic

The Chiropractic Medicine Clinic is a center for training, continuing education and professional development, and provides high-quality treatment and advice to patients. While the training is carried out in collaboration with the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Zurich, continuing and advanced education is done in accordance with the guidelines of the ChiroSuisse professional association.

Training

Aspiring chiropractors complete the final or penultimate semester of their 12-semester junior assistant program in our teaching clinic under the supervision of an experienced team of specialist chiropractors. Students enrolled in the chiropractic medicine program at the Medical Faculty of the University of Zurich (UZH) and students from foreign educational institutions recognized by the federal government are eligible for the training program.

A prerequisite for starting practical activity in our teaching clinic is passing the clinical entrance exam at the end of the fifth year of chiropractic medicine studies.

Continuing education

Resident doctors working on their certification in chiropractic medicine work alongside our senior physicians in the clinic. Since 2022, we have been accredited as a continuing education center by the professional association ChiroSuisse. We promote patient-centered consultation and treatment in chiropractic medicine, as well as interprofessional collaboration with other specialist departments at Balgrist University Hospital. Collaboration with regional GPs is also very important to us.

Continuing training – lifelong learning

Chiropractors’ professional duties include ongoing training. Each year, they must complete at least 80 hours of training courses accredited by ChiroSuisse. The Chiropractic Medicine Clinic at Balgrist also regularly shares theoretical, academic and practical knowledge with colleagues and other interested healthcare professionals.
